Places to Visit

In Ebberston, you will find a cricket pitch, kid’s playground and many public footpaths leading through old meadows past streams and brooks. The village is superbly located on the southern edge of the North Yorks Moors, with the Vale of Pickering laid out below and is just 8 miles from the stunning Yorkshire coast and the seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay.

The area is known for its high number of pre-history earthworks, and immediately behind the cottage, straight out of the top of the Orchard is a path leading through Chafer Wood to a memorial cairn dedicated to King Aelfred, who was slain in a nearby battle in 716AD. St Mary’s Church, in the centre of the village is of Norman origin with later medieval additions, amongst them a 14th century tower and built into the stonework is a carving of a broad sword, possibly depicting a Knight Templar or a Crusader’s sword!
