Chestnut Holiday Cottage may be small but it is the ideal getaway for a couple looking for a base for an active or relaxing holiday – or both! Fully redecorated with new noise-reducing windows and doors, Chestnut is a comfortable, private self-catering cottage with its own gated patio and easy access to the large garden and orchard. Downstairs is a kitchen with fridge (small freezer compartment), microwave and gas oven, leading to a spacious lounge with flat screen TV, Freeview and a DVD player. Upstairs is the bathroom with shower/WC and a double bedroom. The cottage has full gas central heating and private off road parking.
Garden & Orchard
A garden of two halves! Not quite a formal lower garden since the gardening style here at Chestnut is anything but formal, it’s where we are creating flower beds with bees, colour and scent in mind, to become Chestnut’s cottage garden. Further up is the Orchard – wonderful blossom on the apple, damson and pear trees in the Spring and help yourself to fruit in the Autumn!
Through the archway to the pond – newly dug in Autumn 2019, our pond is a wonderful place to sit in the sun and watch the water. It didn’t take long for the wildlife to move in and reproduce! We had an amazing number of toad tadpoles this year and our baby fish are growing steadily whislt staying safe amongst the pondplants.
Parking
We have plenty of space to park your car in our private offroad driveway. Our drive is quite a steep one so you can also park in the layby in front of the cottage if you prefer.
Dog Friendly
Chestnut Cottage is a dog-friendly cottage and our four-legged friends are very welcome. Chessie – our resident spaniel – is keen to meet everyone and loves to share the garden and orchard. More information here.
