Chestnut Cottage is a dog-friendly cottage and our four-legged friends are very welcome. Chessie – our resident spaniel – is keen to meet everyone and loves to share the garden and orchard.

The cottage has a secure patio but the rest of the garden is not; there are low walls and opportunities for determined escapees to run into the woods so please make sure you can control your dog if you plan to let them off the lead.Poo-bags are available along with spare leads and extra towels. We have a hosepipe in the garden if your furry friend likes cold showers, or buckets and cloths if they prefer a warmer kind of bath.
It helps dogs to settle if you bring your own dog bed and bowls and we also ask that you don’t leave your dog unattended in the cottage. Please note any damage to the cottage caused by unattended dogs will be charged for at departure.
Don’t forget to pack all your pet’s basic necessities and keep them handy in the car. It’s worth planning in plenty of stops if you are travelling a long way and keep bottled water available. When stopping for breaks allow your pet time to cool off in a shady area and if you stop for a while always leave the car windows down so your pet can get plenty of fresh air. If it’s too hot (even cloudy skies can heat up car interiors!) please never leave your pet in the car!
The cottage is cleaned thoroughly after our four-legged guests depart but we charge a one-off fee for dogs of £25 to offset the costs of extra cleaning.
